this statement is really justified. in present world communication is considered as the key factor of the success for any concern. ineffective communication or no communication

thats why funda of team spirit is on high as in team proper channel of communication can be made effective.

Is making high-quality ';Biodiesel'; from Expired and/or Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) a potentially .....?

... viable business proposition for developing nations?

    Assuming you:

1- can get the Expired or WVO at no or very low cost (i.e. transportation / recycle collection expenses)

2- have access to an affordable labor force

3- mean to produce it on a reasonably large scale to sustain a relatively large size business and NOT just for personal use

4- mean to produce a high-quality Biodiesel and hope to sell the glycerin byproduct to the industry as well

5- can market the Biodiesel directly to the target customers (e.g. trucks, buses, heating market, etc.)

Would the upfront cost of a reasonably large Conversion / Reactor Facility plus the other ongoing costs of production / operation / distribution (fix and variable) make this a potentially viable business opportunity for ';the developing country markets';?

And do you know of similar type operations (on large scale) anywhere in the world that you can direct my attention to?

What is highest quality brand of essential oils?

I know that essential oils vary in quality levels. Can anyone attest to a brand that is the highest quality. I am looking specifically for grapefruit oil. What is highest quality brand of essential oils?
It's not the brand. There are lots of factors.

    1. Are the oils produced where the herbs grow or are the herbs dried and shipped to the place the the essential oils are distilled. If this happens a lot of the oils are alreay gone before they essential oils are distilled. the essential oils are volatile meaning they evaporate as the plants are dried.

    2. the temperature the oils are distilled at. At the proper temperatire; you get a very nice aroma. at the wrong temperature; the oil smells like turpentine

    3. were the plants sprayed with insecticides, this will affect the quality of the oils

    etc.

A lot of people think Young Living Oils are fabulous; but if the herbs are grown somewhere else and shipped; the quality would not be as good as they should be.

I will only give you a little advice.

    1. ask if the essential oils are pure. Some companies make fragrance oils by putting some essential oil in a carrier oil such as grapeseed, jojoba, etc.

    2. open the tester vial. if you like the aroma; get a bottle. If you do not like the aroma; try others. What is highest quality brand of essential oils?

Whats their worst?Greatest Democrat quality - Not into big oil?
I'd say the fact that they are completely anti American in their views. Their view of the Constitution is a gross distortion of what the founding fathers created. Military might and conservative views are what we've always had, it created this land.Greatest Democrat quality - Not into big oil?
    Selling our country out
Best - their ability to lie and twist facts

    Worst - their machivallian methods
Democrats greatest quality right now will be the focus on the environment and specifically the focus on a search for alternative fuel sources. This will change the framework of US foreign policy for the better and a green economy would actually have aspects of social responsibility in it. How about that in a free market society

Their worst is not dealing with the illegal immigration issue effectively. They have got to be tougher on this issue, or they will be vulnerable in 08.
There worst... hmmm... Are their lips moving?
Their worst quality is having a burning thirst for justice and fairness, which the side that always cheats to win -- G.O.P. -- cannot abide. The G.O.P. wants it all, and wants it now, which brings up another great liberal quality: patience. We don't want to wait for fairness and justice and level-headedness, but we will if circumstances force us to.

  • Has anyone noticed a HUGE loss of quality in motor oil?

Recently I just rebuilt the motor in my toyota and used pennzoil in it. The motor now has 20 miles on it and I went to adjust the valves and noticed that the oil now has the consistency of water and when rubbed between my fingers does NOT lubricate as I can feel friction between my fingers. I had a similar experience a few months back with Mobil Clean 5000 after about 500 miles on our intrepid the oil pressure light kept coming on and you could hear a slight knock at idle speeds, I throught it was either main/rod bearings so I was going to pull the pan and check it out, when I drained the oil I noticed that it had lost all consistency and flowed out of the pan like water splashing everywhere and making a huge mess. I Still have had good luck with Castrol and Valvoline but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and WHAT oil have you had this problem with. With the soaring costs of oil I feel the companies are putting out extremely bad quality to help with their profits.Has anyone noticed a HUGE loss of quality in motor oil?
what you are experiencing is in multi viscosity oil ten thirty t 10w50 there is a polimer.. this is a chemical that thickens liquids when heated... i urge every one not to use this oil no matter who sells it.. use a straight thirty weight in the winter and a straight fourty in the summer... i have a aircraft and could get killed with engine failure.. i use sixty weight oil in the summer and fourty in the winter.. ok the polimer fails often then you have water..Has anyone noticed a HUGE loss of quality in motor oil?
The government put restrictions on the additives that automotive grade oil can have in it. The additives supposedly would burn and release sulfer content into the air but they were anti-wear additives that they restricted. The restrictions aren't there with diesel grade motor oils. The shop that machined my last rebuild swears by diesel grade motor oils being run in regular cars because they still have these anti wear additives in them. That could be the quicker loss of viscosity that you're talking about.
yes....i have noticed that the oil seems much thinner and of much poorer quality. i cant think of one thing that i haven't noticed a huge loss of quality in, over the years....especially customer service.

What is the the Quality of injection water(oil well)?

I don't know where PD go his information but most of it is incorrect. Only at off shore locations might sea water be used for water injection. Other locations can use a variety of different water sources along as they are free of particulates, chemicals that might react with the reservoir water and 02.

Gas is very seldom injected into an existing oil field for the same purpose as water. Currently a great deal of CO2 is injected in various oil fields as a method of increasing the amount of oil produced. The CO2 acts like a dry cleaning agent to clean as much of the oil as possible that might be still ';wetting'; the surface of the reservoir rock.

It is not economical to transport by products from refineries to oil fields for injection. Typically the only refinery gases that are flared are those that must be released due to an equipment failure or other emergency. What is the the Quality of injection water(oil well)?
oil well sureWhat is the the Quality of injection water(oil well)?
Filtered Sea water (avoiding shells etc) after de-oxygenation (avoiding bacteria growth)is normally used to inject the reservoir void.

Now a days gas is also used (the by produced gases while refining etc, which is not useful for industry, those normally releases through flare(flare is intended to burns out these by products)by this tech. pollutions is also reduced to great extent

  • Quality of olive oil from Turkey?

We have bought an old olive oil factory in datca, turkey and we are restoring it (http://www.villaolivio.com)

Everytime we go there we bring with us the local olive oil which tastes very very good. Now I was wondering what you think about olive oil from Turkey.

    Hope to hear from you

JeroenQuality of olive oil from Turkey?
I don't like it to be honest.

The best Olive oils come from:

    Italy

    Greece

    Cyprus

    Spain ( so-so)

    France ( so-so)

    Africa( so-so).

Keep in mind that different countries and states use different olive varietals and different methods.

    IE.

The best oil is made from green unripened olives( and the varietal also matters).

The oil made from unripened olives is a very expensive ordeal because with green olives you get more water and less oil with ripened olives you get more oil and less water.

That's why oil prices vary so much.

    Then varietals.

Sicily uses Biancalilla olives which imparts a grassy taste which they are famous for.

The oil we import ';Fernando Pensato'; uses 100% single estate Perenzana oliver( pressed within 2 hours of picking) thus very very expensive and it imparts a ';fruity'; taste with a slight grip.

Black ripened olives produce a buttery, mild flat oil and are much cheaper to produce.

Turkey, Spain, Africa use this method although some Spanish oils are high end (but not many).

Alot to be said on the subject and keep in mind the acidity level.

I'd love to know how the oil you speak of is being produce and what olive varietal is being used?

I tasted two oils from Turkey at the fancy food show.

They were buttery and flat( a sign that ripe, cheaper olives were used to get the maximum amount of oil extraction).

How has human consumption of petroleum oil (fossil fuels) affected the quality of life on earth?

Your question is not quantitative. It's subjective. If you refer to mobility and the affect on societal improvements because of the use of fossil fuels, it's been immeasurably positive. If you refer to smog and other undersirable environmental effects, it's been a negative. The argument for global warming causation is still being disputed.

What are some tips for buying a high quality olive oil?

I've been using an organic one from Trader Joe's that I absolutely LOVE...but since there are no stores in this state and I'm running out, I need to find an alternative.

*Rather than just giving me some brand names, can you help me identify what to look for on the bottle? (ie Where the olives come from, where the oil is produced, any added ingredients, type of bottle, etc.)

*Is price always a good indication of quality?

*Is it possible to find a decent EV olive oil at the grocery store, or should I look somewhere else?

*And if yes to the latter, where?

I use this not only in cooking, but also as part of my salad dressings, so taste is a big factor here. I've tried some that tasted like garbage.

Thanks for the help! What are some tips for buying a high quality olive oil?
All you need to know about olive oil:

    for extra virgin...

    Less than 1% acidity

    First press or cold press

    Use for salads and breads

Only use for cooking if it is a major flavor component

Use pure olive oil for saute

You can find good olive oil at the store. You don't want added ingredients, you want it free from any additives. Also remember the two things that make olive oil go bad are light and heat. If your olive oil is coming in a dark bottle, there's a good chance that company knows that they are doing. Don't just go by price, just try around until you find one you like.

I can't stress this enough, but extra virgin olive oil is not made for cooking. No matter what you may think, it can be worse to use than pure. First of all, it has a low smoke point so there's a good chance that you'll burn it or any flavor out before you even get your food in the pan. Pure olive oil will keep its flavor better. I know a lot of people think they are purists since they will only use EV olive oil, but not only is it a waste of money, it's a waste of taste. There is absolutely no benefit to cooking with it (unless it's a major component, such as pasta with garlic and oil).

If you want to compare that with something, if you had a $500 bottle of bordeaux, would you rather cook with that, or save that for drinking? It's the same with EV olive oil...cook with the pure, save the EV for flavor in its raw state.

And to remove any misunderstandings from my statement, I am not saying not to cook with a low quality olive oil, I am just saying to use pure, you can use as high of a quality of that as you can find. What are some tips for buying a high quality olive oil?
First of all, you shouldn't use a good quality olive oil for cooking. The flavors will become bitter, and you are wasting money by doing that. Use a lesser quality oil for that. Price is not always a good indication. You can find a good one at grocery stores, depending on where you live. HEB, Harmons, Sunflower Farmer's Market, Whole Food, Trader Joe's. Those are all places that I know will have the good kind.

Look for cold pressed Virgin oil. Sometimes they will call it Extra Virgin. Just make sure it says cold pressed on it.
You'll have to go by taste. Buy, taste, judge... buy, taste, judge... and remember the ones that you like.

Being that different people like different things (you do know this, right?) you cannot have someone tell you an answer that will suffice.

Most stores have organic these days and they are generally better, in my opinion. Store brands are the worst, in my opinion. Price does not necessarily dictate quality or taste.

My favorite is Bella, carried by Publix. Of course many would disagree, as well as agree.
Use Virgin Olive Oil for drizzling only. Olive Oil can be used for cooking. DO NOT USE POMACE OLIVE OIL. It is made from the paste that's left after the pressing. It is used in some kinds of cooking in restaurants who want cheap oil and some people use it in candle making.

Spain, Italy and Greece have some of the finest olive oil in the world. Do not pay attention to brand names, it's all hype. Colors vary from light amber to deep green, and viscosity runs from light to heavy. It's a matter of choice. Forget the small ';gourmet'; oils that are very expensive and no better than the not so famous brands.

Where is the best place (value/quality) to take your car for an oil change?

vw jetta in phoenix.Where is the best place (value/quality) to take your car for an oil change?
Most people would say Jiffy Lube or Ez Lube (California) or any other fast lube providers in your area and most people get good service from these providers but like any other business they are out to make a buck from you. In Los Angeles a news crew for NBC 4 recently did an undercover report and caught 6 out 9 stores that were either selling products that were not needed or sold products that were never change.

My advice to you would be 1) to go to a trusted family mechanic or 2) go to your local VW dealership, most people are scared or don't have the patients to go to the dealership but dealerships give the best service because of thier knowledge of the specific cars they handle.

good luckWhere is the best place (value/quality) to take your car for an oil change?
    do it yourself Report Abuse

i usually go to jiffy lube, but an oil change should only take about 15-20 minutes. sometimes you can get stuck there for over an hour and dont let them talk you into buying extra stuff.
All those oil change places do try to sell you more, as well as Goodyear and Goodrich, so you have to stand your ground. Replace your own air filter before you go because they charge a lot for one. I take my car to the dealer. I bought it new and they have info on recalls that aren't readily known because they aren't safety related. Then, I get things done free.
NEVER go to the 'quick lube' shops. They hire inexperienced kids to work there. I have seen many horror tales over the years about damaged vehicles by incompetent employees. Also, they do put alot of pressure on you to buy extra services you dont need. Find a good mechanic. Get some personal recomendations from people you trust in the area. Full Service mechanics will do better work for the same or less money that the 'quick lube' shops.

oil paintingIf i use cheap oil colors for undercoloring dose it decrease quality of my painting?
Depends on how much cheaper you are talking but not really. If you are talking under painting you may want to use acrylics. They don't interfere with your oil colors and still you have a fast and cheap under painting. Many artists do this.

When it comes to mixing different types of oil paint you can only rely on experience and mine says: Stick with good paint. Cheap will make you curse.

There are some very very cheap Chinese paint out there that are really great for experimenting and quick studies...but when mixed with other, more expensive oil paints they will bleed and even start leaking on clotting. No kidding. If i use cheap oil colors for undercoloring dose it decrease quality of my painting?
House, or art painting? You get what you pay for. Cheap paints are usually poorer quality in texture and in their ability to 'stick' to a prepared surface.
Some cheaper paints will fade in the light that's the only reason I've found they are cheaper.

If you're on a budget you might like to use the undercoating paints found in paint shops.

The whites are usually quite brilliant and give a good base color.

    Ford oil filter quality?

I used to be a Volvo owner where you only use Volvo (Mann) if you want a high quality filter. Is the same true for Ford?

I have a 2001 Taurus with Vulcan engine (new owner) and I took it to Chevron's Oilstop to get the oil changed. They use ';Warner'; (Champion Labs) filters, no idea of their quality. I know Fram is crap. My mechanic used his pipe cutter to cut open a few types of filters and the Fram was pathetic.

Should I stick with Ford factory filters or some other aftermarket brand?Ford oil filter quality?
Wix, Ford, Purolator and AC are the best, Fram is the cheapest and worst...Ford oil filter quality?
I don't believe you can go wrong with using the same parts and liquids that originally came with the car. Use Motorcraft for Ford, it's a good thing!

I also believe that places with fixed price oil changes will do anything to cut costs and improve profits. Cheap filters, cheap oil, cut corners, etc... are the norm. Just my opinion, buyer beware.

Anyone remember Franz? I actually saw one at a garage sale a few years ago.
I have had a ford taurus for several years and mantained it nicely on a fram filter. May I add my car has 180,000 miles on it and still starts every single day.

What you should be worried about more then anything else is that crappy vulcan engine same with the fuel flex engine it was crap. The only engine that was ever good in this car was the 3.0
Fram Is one of the top of the line old filter and air cleaner. I will use nothing less. Champion is the worse of the line. And will not install one on someone car.
I don't know it being the best but it's the only one recommended by Ford as they have found other filters actually come apart and clog the passageways that are critical sometimes.. more so on the new 3 valves than anything
Its said that factory originals are the best and cost the most. If you have the extra bucks to spend, go with the original.

Having sexual intercourse at ovulation-1 day (home tests), we :) cant get pregnant. All seems to be normal otherwise for both of us.(lots of tests done...)Is using baby oil during foreplay jeopardising the quality of the cervical glaire and may affect the semen?
The use of baby oil can and will effect conception. Sperm can only live in certain PH conditions. Using a lubricant of any sorts effects that PH level. The only lubricant I know of that is safe to use during conception is Pre-seed.

Are Costco's Kirkland brand omega 3 fish oil with dha and epa good quality vitamins?

Kirkland is Costco's store brand name.

The same manufacturer bottles the same supplements for dozens of other stores as well.

For Costco or any store to have their own manufacturer, you would be paying a few hundred dollars per bottle instead of a couple of bucks.

Same contents, different labels, different prices. Are Costco's Kirkland brand omega 3 fish oil with dha and epa good quality vitamins?
they are as good if not better than the name brand.

Costco co-brands with name brands. For example, their Kirkland brand jeans are made by Levi. Levi's are an excellent name brand jean, better than some others out there. Whatever name brand company they have co-branded with has to meet Costco's strict standards to be associated with their Kirkland brand.

Does putting olive oil in your hair improve the quality of your hair?

it does, rosemary oil also works wonders!Does putting olive oil in your hair improve the quality of your hair?
There is a bottled hair product with olive oil in it, but you use about a dime size for your entire head.

Regular olive oil, like in your cooking cabinet, can be rubbed into your hair and then use the blow drier for a silky shine. Then, of course, wash it out after you spend about 5 minutes heating up your hair. The heat helps you hair absorb the moisture and supplements in the oil.

I wouldn't just use the oil in your hair and not wash it out, though. Trust me, I have a frizzy head and tried that in 5th grade. I was a grease ball for about a week and I thought I looked pretty cool.. but it was actually really gross.

Yes! olive oil is great for hair and skin.

you only need a tiny bit tho, rub it in your palms first then put in your hair. it makes it shiny and if you put it in the ends after styling it separates the hair and helps hold the style. great for curly hair too.
Greek Gods and emperirs used olive oil, and lemon juice.

And with vitamans and such I think it does improve your hair :)
I wouldn't say it makes a big difference, but it can make your hair really shiny.

    There are two issues:

    1. Customs: Any shipment (air or boat) of products for sale over $2000 (in some cases $250) is subject to duties that you must pay for each shipment ( a form of tax) the government agency responsible for this is U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or CBP.

    2. FDA: Cooking oil is a consumable and made from a plant and is subject to the Food and Drug Administration. When your consumable comes to the US it will definitely be inspected by FDA as an imported food consumable so the packaging, and processing must be to FDA standards or your product may not be allowed into the country. You may need to provide information relating to the manufacture and processing of the product in the host country and any testing that was performedHow do I go about selling highest quality olive oil from Italy in the States?

    SPOTLIGHT ON GREEK OIL

    By Janice Cole, Food Editor

If you think you鈥檝e never tasted Greek olive oil, think again. Much of what鈥檚 packaged in Italy and other countries is actually olive oil that was purchased from Greece.

Greeks produce more extra-virgin olive oil than any other country. That oil is used to improve the quality and taste of olive oil blended in other countries. Recently, the Greeks decided they鈥檇 like to market more of their own oils, so you should soon be seeing more Greek-origin olive oil in stores.

Greek olive oil is pure olive juice; there are no added chemicals or extra components. Because of its natural low acidity, 80 percent of the oil produced in Greece is graded extra-virgin. (Extra-virgin olive oil is either cold-pressed or comes from the first pressing of the olives. It usually has the most pronounced and complex flavors and it鈥檚 low in acid; 0.8 percent acidity is considered extra-virgin, and most of the Greek oil is less than 0.1 percent acidity.) Greek olive oil tends to be more balanced in fruity, bitter and spicy tastes compared to other olive oils.

Look for these top Greek brands: Mani, Lapis, Iliada, Xenia Krinos, Morea, Altis and Phileos, a new brand that will be available soon.
sounds like the Customs broker for olive oil. check the cbp.gov site
There are many markets that have Italian olive oil imported from Italy.First thing you need to do is get a business license then you need a place of business a building that is set up with the right heath standards. After that you need to have a heath inspection if you pass they will give you a license to sale food. But thee is much more to do if you call your local City hall they will point you in the right direction. ( BEFORE YOU DO ALL THIS YOU NEED TO FIND A VENDOR LIKE SYSCO FOODS OR U.S FOOD SERVICE THAT WILL IMPORT THE PRODUCT OF YOUR CHOICE AND THEN YOU ORDER FROM THEM AND PAY THEM)
You can hire an agent to take care of the paperwork an shipment for you. My friend imports children's clothing and employs an importer to do it for her. It is very complicated and things go wrong at cusoms that the average Joe would not even think of, it is your agent's job to sort all that out. As for selling it, it would depend on what kind of volume you are talking. Try to get a famous chef to patronize your oil and you are made.

You might be interested to know that much of the Olive Oil sold in the USA as Italian Olive Oil actually comes from Greece. You might want to check out price and quality from Greece and also Spain.

Just because it say Italy on the label doesn't necessarily mean it was produced in Italy.

    I Cr 13;8a

California produces a lot of Olive Oil but its quite expensive. So you can probably offer Olive Oil from Europe at a substantial savings.

Olive Oil has mono-unsturated fat so its very very good for the heart.
I agree totally with KitKat. It would also save you a lot of money.
Actually, lots of olive oil is imported from the middle east- Israel and Palestine -

to answer the question- it would be in your best interest to locate a Customs House Broker/Frieght Forwarder in your area or a port nearest your city and have them do all the work. it's fairly inexpensive and saves you all the hassles of working directly with US customs
simply e-mail the Company and place an order. it's a food product , they will tell you what you need to know
There's no olive oil in USA ??

If you want i can send to you from portugal
Please don't listen to everybody that says that there are already lots of olive oil brands in the US. There are only so few that taste as good as fresh olive oil in the Mediterranean countries. The US laws have so many loopholes when it comes to certifying something as olive oil. A blend of oils that only has a small percentage of olive oil can be marketed as 100% pure virgin olive oil in the US. It's true! Check the bottles. Not to mention that the US does not require that an olive oil container lists the acidity of the oil. The olive oil market is the US is still immature.

I'm sorry I don't have a real answer to your question except what has already been said (basically lots of paperwork and FDA approval), but PLEASE don't listen to people that try to put you down. The US needs to taste good olive oil.

You'll probably have a good chance of selling it at a cheaper price than the domestic oils. The production of olive oil in the US is expensive because of the lack of olive presses, high transportation costs to the presses, and high labor costs. The industry in the Mediterranean is more mature and that tends to push the costs down.

    Good luck!!
I don't know what part of the country you are from, but here in NY there are many imported Italian brands of olive oil. Before contacting a manufacturer in Italy I would try to contact a distributor of olive oil in the states. May be you can apply for a dealership with Gem or Calovita or Bertolli oils (tel# (800) 908-9789. You also can reach Bertolli at Bertolli.com.
Aside from the import licesne and doing business overseas, there are loads of DOMESTIC olive oils (especially from California) that could directly challenge you.

The city of Copperopolis makes a very grand caliber of Olive Oil, so you need to stand free and clear of the competition
Save yourself a lot of money and contact Frank Granato Importing. They are located in Salt Lake City. They carry an INCREDIBLE line of Italian products including numerous olive oils. 1391 South 300 West, SLC UT 84115 Phone # 801-4865643. No web site yet they can be thoroughly researched by simply typing in their name. Ciao!
You would need to get hold of a distributor. Honestly though, there are hundreds of Olive oils imported from Italy in stores already.
your problem is not importing, get a booklet from customs, you'll have to pay 20% duty, you'll need a customs broker. transport will cost a lot depending on what method you use. really, something like olive oil will need to be shipped in a container ship, it'll take a month or more to get here and a week to clear customs. then you move it from your broker's warehouse to your own.

the real problem i see here is marketing. that will be rough. as others have said, there is a glut of good olive oil in america. i buy a very good first pressing extra virgin from the local dollar store, $2 a litre. if you want volume sales then you will need a lot, so consider that in initial cost, transportation, customs duties and associated fees, and storage and shipping to distributors. if you go for high end luxury product market then you will need high end packaging and lots of marketing to small outlets, as well as associated costs (storage and transport).

not a business for the amateur, and amateur you are or you would know these things. want to get into import, start with something simple. good luck though.
There are dozens of brands of olive oil, from Italy and other countries, readily available in any American grocery store. Why bother importing another one, when excellent brands are already available?
I think the Corleone family sold its olive oil buisness to some other New York family when Michael moved them out to Las Vegas.
    dont no...sorry
Who do you think you are ? The Godfather. oh, The Godmother ?

I don't know, but good luck.
Make sure you include me on your clients list.
You will have a lot of competition. Go into any supermarket in the USA and you will find several brands of imported olive oil on the shelves. Good luck.
I'm sire if you go to www.ask.com you could find import laws, but there are so many brands of Olive oil already that it might not sell too well. Extra Virgin olive oil is the best you can get and even Walmart has about 10 different brands of it.

    Good Quality Olive Oil?

Does anybody have any suggestions for a really good extra virgin olive oil. I love to dip italian bread in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I have bought some from the store, but the taste is just not as good compared to something you would have in an Italian restaurant. Any really good brands, I'm willing to pay extra, just have to be able to find it without going across the country for it. Thanks!!!Good Quality Olive Oil?
The best way to buy extra virgin olive oil I've found, is to buy it by the 3 liter metal container. If you like good quality oil and use it a lot like I do, it's more economical this way.

Currently, I have Abruzzo from Italy, and Kalamata from Greece. I usually have Spanish oil, too. In this size, extra virgin olive oil runs $17-$25 per container. You can find decent prices at no frills Mediterranean or European markets. Sometimes supermarkets have special prices, and warehouses have good prices too.Good Quality Olive Oil?
Pacific Sun is THE BEST. Paula Deen uses it as well. It is homegrown in Tehama County hand picked olives to make the best extra virgin olive oil. It comes from a small family orchard. I know the guy who owns the buisness and trust me he takes pride in the quality of his oil.
gerally with olive oil, you get what you pay for... you also want to make sure the bottle it comes in is dark, so it doesn't let too much light through, this could spoil the oil
Check out these viengars and extra virgin olive oils: http://www.all-things-italian.com/catego鈥?/a>
    Bertolli EVOO!
Kirkland from COSTCO is pretty good, I think. Of course, anything made in ITALY or Greece should be pretty good as well
I usually use Bertolli, its good and still in my price range

    Oil quality?

I presently use Mobil 1 in my vehicles and have had no problems with anyuthing. I was wondering though if anyone knows the following two questions.

    1. NAPA oil, is it really Valvoline in a generic NAPA bottle?

    2. If AMSOIL is so good, why was I not able to locate the American petroleum institutes starburst symbol on the bottle?

    3. If using synthetic oil is it really feasable to go 6 to 7,000 miles between oil changes? I go by the cars oil life monitor and average 6,500 between changes. I have had no problems so far and both my cars run great. I guess I am just looking for input. Thanks

I do not know ht ese answers and was wondering if anyone else did.Oil quality?
Oil is oil as much as gas is gas. Some minor differences in additives, although synthetic is different than regular oil.

    AMSOIL is a scam.

Yes, synthetic will run longer than regular oil w/o breakdown. As far as the oil life monitor goes, well, it may be ok, then again, the manufacturer DOES want to sell you a new car not too far down the road....Oil quality?
Change you oil per manufacturers recommendations. Use a good oil and a good filter like a Wix (my favorite). Regular maintenance pays. Napa oil is made by Valvoline to Napa's specs. Only difference
You can go 10,000 miles, but you may want to change the filter at about 5,000.

Which high quality motor oil brands (lubricants) to you know ???

    I mean... Havoline, Mobil, Shell...???

Please indicate the country you are from or simply (USA, EU, ...)

Tx in advance !!!Which high quality motor oil brands (lubricants) to you know ???
As long as you use the weight and SAE grade motor oil recommended by the manufacturer of the car, there is no real difference among brands.

Consumer Reports tested motor oils by putting them in New York City taxis and checking the tolerances on wear surfaces before and after running them hard for many miles. There was no measurable difference in protection among all the oils tested.

This was not the most severe test, however, because the cars ran continuously, so there were no 'cold starts,' the toughest test your oil must face.

Full synthetic oil (Mobil One, Castrol Syntec, Penzoil Platinum, Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic, Quaker State Q Advanced Engine Full Synthetic, or Amzoil, etc.) protects better in this case. Because they have a wider viscosity index (thicken less with cold, thin less with heat) they are thinner after sitting while you work or sleep, so that the oil pump can get it to where it is needed to protect against wear quicker.

Synthetics also thin out less as your engine heats up, so they maintain the protective film better and under more severe conditions.

Finally, a synthetic oil's light fractions (thinner components) are less volatile, so they don't evaporate as readily, making the oil more stable and longer lasting.

I hope this helps. Good motoring!Which high quality motor oil brands (lubricants) to you know ???
I usually use Castrol or Valvoline
I have heard from many gear heads that Amsol makes the best overall oils/lubricants around. I also have seen lab reports agreeing with this.
    Royal Purple for sure.
i use nothing but synthetics in my cars... the only one i've used is Royal Purple... its a raced developed oil that is definitely worth its weight in gold... i've also heard very good things about Mobil 1 and Amsoil... another oil to look for is Red Line Oil... good luck with what you choose...

from the US by the way...
I've used Vavoline 30 SAE in all my cars since the 70's. The exception to that rule...Using 10w-40 in my newer model cars.

Reason: When you do have to rebuild an engine. It's a nice way to eliminate 3-6 hours work. There is NO build up of sludge inside the engine with this oil.

I haven't ';had'; to rebuild one in years, other than my toys. And, they get dogged pretty hard. So they naturally need one from time to time.

How the volume of Sudan oil reserve, and is it good in quality?

Sudan’s proven oil reserves consist of 700 mm barrels in the Muglad and Melut Basins in mostly northern Sudan, both discovered by Chevron in its pioneering exploration work in the 1970/80s. In the southern region, high potential for finding future oil reserves exists in the “Sudd” (Arabic meaning barrier for its dense aquatic vegetation) swamp. The Sudd is a massive clay-soiled bowl-type basin where the White Nile yearly overflows its tributaries as it flows north through Sudan and Egypt.

Energy professionals believe the Sudd likely holds an additional 5 bn barrels or so in recoverable reserves. Together, these aggregate reserves (Muglad, Melut and Sudd) will be sufficient to maintain production for nearly 60 years, meaning Sudan will be a major oil supplier for China for decades. (7)

Crude oil from the Sudanese interior is a very sweet crude with sulphur content less than 0.4 percent. It is paraffinic, with API 34 gravity, and is on high demand in the Far East and the Pacific.

    Best quality olive oil?

please suggest some best brands of olive oil and why do the colors differ?Best quality olive oil?
    Da,

Use Bertolli if you can get it. It is expensive - in the USA it tends to be 3-5 dollars per 500 ml and it has a golden yellow color. Only buy extra virgin - here, 'virgin' this refers to the number of times the olives have been pressed before. Extra virgin = zero. Hope this helps!Best quality olive oil?
    Tasting

Because no two batches of olive oil are ever the same, tasting is important. Inferior oil may ruin the flavor of food, but good oil will enhance the flavors without overpowering the food. It is always best to taste olive oil first before it is used in cooking or in salads to ensure that the flavor is pleasing and it will work for the specific dishes.

The criteria for judging olive oil are based on the aroma and the taste. The color of the olive oil is of little importance to the overall quality of the oil.

Aroma The alcohol, ketones, esters, and hydrocarbons present in the oil determine the aroma. Processing and storage methods also have an affect on the aroma.

Taste The taste of the olive oil is judged by its positive and negative taste characteristics and by its saltiness, acidity, bitterness, sharpness, and/or sweetness.

Colour The color of olive oil is not necessarily used as criteria for quality. The color allows the judge to determine the age of the olives at harvest time. Young olives produce green colored oil and more mature olives produce a yellow color. Olive oil takes on a red tint as it oxidizes.Judges are often blindfolded when tasting olive oil so the color is not known until after the tasting. An experienced judge may be able to determine the color based on the aroma and flavor characteristics of the oil.

The table below lists some of the flavors and characteristics that are considered to be desirable or undesirable as judged by experts in olive oil tasting.

    Positive Characteristics

    Negative Characteristics

Apple - a hint of apple flavor can be very desirable. Bitter - although a subtle bitterness is considered desirable, a strong bitter flavor is a negative trait.

Almond - subtle, nutty flavor, common in Spanish olive oils. Briny - a briny, salty flavor indicates the oil was produced from brined olives.

Artichoke - similar to an artichoke flavor. Burnt - an undesirable flavor caused by an unacceptably high temperature during processing.

Astringent - the oil creates a puckering sensation in the mouth, which if not overpowering is considered to be a positive attribute. Dirty - this characteristic refers to oil that has remained in contact with the vegetable water, which was separated during pressing. The oil absorbs unpleasant flavors from the water.

Bitter - a bitterness that is very subtle is desirable. Earthy - musty and humid flavor and aroma.

Buttery - smooth, sweet, rich flavor. Flat - refers to olive oil that has lost most of its flavor and aroma.

Fresh - clean and crisp. Greasy - olive oil that has a petroleum flavor.

Fruity - similar flavor and aroma as a ripe olive. Most olive oils are fruity after pressing, but may soon change in flavor and aroma. Oil that is classified as fruity does not lose this characteristic. Musty - an unpleasant, moldy flavor that occurs in olive oil if the olives were stored too long before pressing.

Green - a young oil with a fresh, fruity or weedy aroma and flavor. Metallic - olive oil may absorb a metallic flavor from reactive metals, either during pressing or when stored. Reactive metals should not be used for the production or storage of olive oil.

Melon - a slight melon flavored aftertaste. Moldy - a pronounced moldy flavor caused by fermentation of olives that have been stored too long before pressing.

Musky - If not too strong, it can be very desirable. Rancid - a bad flavor caused by the oxidation of the olive oil because of exposure to air and/or light.

Peppery - a distinct peppery flavor that is common in many Italian olive oils. Rough - a pasty and greasy feel in the mouth.

Sweet - subtle, mildly sweet flavor found in mellow oils. Many French oils have this quality. Wine - olive oil that has a very acidic flavor.
Olive oil is tough; the best olive oils are very expensive cold pressed varieties from Spain and Italy. Supermarket brands aren't as good, but you do get what you pay for. This seems to be a case of ';more expensive is better.'; For every day use though, I use Bertolli.

According to Cooks Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen, the best supermarket olive oil is Columela Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Bertolli and Filippo are recommended budget brands.

Another note about color or variety; Extra Virgin. That's all you should ever buy, regardless of application. It will be easier for you to buy, and it will do everything you want it too. DO NOT buy light, or virgin or any other kind... Extra Virgin only. It's that simple.
I find that Bertolli is the best brand. The colour differs because some olive oil is made of black, and some of white olives. It also depends on the quality and whether it is virgin, extra virgin ect.

If i change the oil on my 07 civic wich have an elect. feat. to check the quality of oil will it reset itself

Pulling the battery cable does not reset your oil life dude. Honda at one time had a red reset button in a fuse panel on the side of the dash, accessible with the drivers' door open. Not sure if they have changed that, but that was used in the late 90s, early 00s.If i change the oil on my 07 civic wich have an elect. feat. to check the quality of oil will it reset itself
pull off battery cable for 10 seconds it will reset itselfIf i change the oil on my 07 civic wich have an elect. feat. to check the quality of oil will it reset itself
I own a 07 Civic and actually just changed my oil today...

To reset the oil life percent back to 100% on your dash, do the following steps...

    1. Start the engine

    2. Using the SEL/RESET button on the left side of the steering wheel, press it until ';OIL LIFE'; shows up on the screen.

    3. Press and hold the SEL/RESET button for 10 seconds or until the ';OIL LIFE'; starts to blink and a code will come up and blink along with it. You can release the SEL/RESET button.

    4. Once again Press the SEL/RESET button for 5 seconds or until the screen shows 100% oil life.

Thats it, you are all set!

  • I am looking for a pure salmon oil for my dogs. Is Alaskan Salmon Oil the best quality? ?

We've tried them all, I think, The best quality (and least fishy smell) that we found is from Alaskan Dog Treats, They actually extract the oil at sea, which is probably why it is so fresh. They also have some wonderful dog treats that are very high in Omega Fatty Acids and antioxidants. The name on the packaging is Alaskan ';Bear'; Treats for Dogs, but don't let that fool you. I think that's the name of their dog on the label. Our lab loves them.

You can find them at http://www.alaskandogtreats.comI am looking for a pure salmon oil for my dogs. Is Alaskan Salmon Oil the best quality? ?

I use Kronch salmon oil from Denmark. It's pressed from Norwegian salmon, all natural and comes in a pump.
You could just feed raw fish a few times a week.

How to create long lasting quality oil and acrylic paintings?

I'm new to painting, but I've worked with graphite, charcoal, ink, etc. in the past. I've bought some stretch gallary canvas and artist panels. They say they are acrylic titanium primed for oil and acrylic paint. My questions are: Do I need to use gesso or anything before I paint on the canvas? What do I use to make the paint blend easily, but not too watery? Do I use the same thinner (or whatever it is), to blend both oil and acrylics? How do I seal (varnish?) either type of painting? My main goal is to create art that doesn't fade or peel apart, in this life time anyway. (Also, any tips on cleaning/conditioning brushes will be greatly appreciated as well!) Thanks in advance! How to create long lasting quality oil and acrylic paintings?
    Lots of questions...

You won't need gesso on anything called primed canvas.

For oils - thin with turpentine (or odorless thinner), or linseed oil, or a mixture of both. The turpentine makes the paint dry faster, linseed oil makes it dry slower but gives it a beautiful sheen. Never try to speed your drying with heat - for fastest drying time mix your paint with Liquin or Galkyd, or another Alkyd Resin medium made for oils. Never paint over another layer of wet or tacky paint - this causes cracking.

For acrylics - mix with minimal amounts of water only... for best results, thin with acrylic medium. Water will make your paint dry too fast, and possibly make it lose its adhesive properties.

Always varnish oils and acrylics after they've cured. For oils this could be 6 months to a year, for acrylics 48 hours or more if the paint is thick. Use an artist-grade varnish only.

Use a good cleaner like Master's Brush Cleaner on your brushes - they will last a lifetime (either oil or acrylic). It comes with instructions. Keep a separate set of brushes for oil %26amp; acrylic.

There are lots more conservation rules, but these are your basics. Have fun with it!How to create long lasting quality oil and acrylic paintings?
for acrylics: Acrylics are water-based paints, which means they can be mixed with water to thin them down and you clean your brushes with water. They鈥檙e made from pigment mixed with acrylic resin and emulsion. Acrylics are very fast drying and can be use in thin, watery glazes or impasto.

How do I know acrylic paints are the right choice for me?

Only you can decide what鈥檚 right for you and for your lifestyle. For me the attractions are how quickly acrylics dry and that I don鈥檛 have to use any solvents, just water.

For a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of acrylics as opposed to oils, watercolours, and pastels, see Q%26amp;A: How to Decide What Paint to Use.

For opinions from artists who鈥檝e decided to use acrylic paints rather than oil, read Should I Use Acrylics or Oil Paint?

What brand of acrylic paint should I buy?

Any of the major brands will do.

Make a living making art. Apply now and gain the skills to do both. Many make acrylic paints in a fluid or liquid version as well as with a paste- or butter-like consistency. Artists will have their own preferred brand based on things such as the colours available and the consistency of the paint. You should be able to check the of lightfastness of the pigment on the tube by, for example an ASTM rating (American Society for Testing and Materials).

My favourite brand of acrylic paint is Golden, because of their magnificent colours, followed by Liquitex because the consistency is great to use with a palette knife and they come in plastic tubes which are incredibly robust. But I鈥檝e a lot of Winsor %26amp; Newton because they鈥檙e what my local art store stocks. When I travel I look out for unusual or useful colours (such as Golden鈥檚 range of neutral greys) or bargain buys. Some people insist that you shouldn鈥檛 mix brands of acrylics, but the research I鈥檝e done on the issue hasn鈥檛 raised any problems with doing so.

    What colours should I get?

For a list of recommended acrylic colours, see Basic Colour Palette for Acrylics.

Should the acrylic paints I buy be artist鈥檚 quality or will student鈥檚 quality do?

Student colours are cheaper for a reason -- they鈥檝e more filler in them. Rather buy a few quality colours than a whole range of cheap colours. Yes, you may be less inhibited about experimenting if you鈥檙e using cheaper student colours, but you can鈥檛 beat the vibrancy from quality artist鈥檚 paints. Tip: Look for paints labelled 鈥榟ue鈥?or 鈥榠mitation鈥? for example 鈥榗admium yellow hue鈥? These are made from cheaper modern pigments rather than the more expensive traditional pigments and are very similar in colour to the genuine thing.

How many brushes do I need for painting with acrylics?

You鈥檒l need stiff-bristled brushes for thick acrylic paint and soft-bristled brushes for watercolour effects. You鈥檒l be faced with an array of sizes and shapes (round, flat, pointed), and you also get different length handles. If you鈥檙e on a tight budget, start with a small and a medium-sized filbert (a flat, pointed brush). I love filberts because if you use just the tip you get a narrow brush mark, and if you push down you get a broad one. Tip: When buying very wide brushes, save money by buying a good-quality household decorating ones. Look for brushes that aren鈥檛 too thick, or cut off half the hairs.

Modern synthetic brushes can be of excellent quality, so don鈥檛 restrict your selection to only those brushes made from natural hairs such as sable. Look for brushes where the hairs quickly spring back up when you bend them. With brushes, you tend to get what you pay for, so the cheaper it is the more likely the hairs are to fall out. Be meticulous about cleaning your brushes as if acrylic paint dries in a brush, it can be extremely difficult to get it out.

    for oils:

Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that bound with medium of drying oil 鈥?especially in early modern Europe, linseed oil. Often an oil, such as linseed was boiled with a resin such as pine resin or even frankincense, these were called 'varnishes' and were prized for their body and gloss. Other oils occasionally used include poppyseed oil, walnut oil, and safflower oil. These oils give various properties to the oil paint, such as less yellowing or different drying times. Certain differences are also visible in the sheen of the paints depending on the oil. Painters often use different oils in the same painting depending on specific pigments and effects desired. The paints themselves also develop a particular feel depending on the media.

Traditional oil painting techniques often begin with the artist sketching the figure onto the canvas with charcoal or a ';wash,'; which is thinned paint. Oil paint can be mixed with turpentine or artist grade mineral spirits or other lean vehicles to create a thinner, faster drying paint. Then the artist builds the figure in layers. A basic rule of oil paint application is 'fat over lean.' This means that each additional layer of paint should be a bit oilier than the layer below, to allow proper drying. As a painting gets additional layers, the paint must get oilier (leaner to fatter) or the final painting will crack and peel. There are many other painting media that can be used in oil painting, including cold wax, resins, and varnishes. These additional media can aid the painter in adjusting the translucency of the paint, the sheen of the paint, the density or 'body' of the paint, and the ability of the paint to hold or conceal the brushstroke. These variables are closely related to the expressive capacity of oil paint. When looking at original oil paintings, the various traits of oil paint allow one to sense the choices the artist made as they applied the paint. For the viewer, the paint is still, but for the artist, the oil paint is a liquid or semi-liquid and must be moved 'onto' the painting surface.

Traditionally, moving paint was accomplished with paint brushes, but there are other methods, including the palette knife, the rag, and even directly from the paint tube. Oil paint remains wet longer than many other types of artists' materials, enabling the artist to change the color, texture or form of the figure. At times, the painter might even remove an entire layer of paint and begin anew. This can be done with a rag and some turpentine for a certain time while the paint is wet, but after a while, the hardened layer must be scraped. Many oil paintings reveal evidence of such scraping on close inspection, particularly when the surface itself is examined. Oil paint dries by oxidation, not evaporation, and is usually dry to the touch in a day to two weeks. It is generally dry enough to be varnished in six months to a year. Art conservators do not consider an oil painting completely dry until it is 60 to 80 years old.

but one more thing to keep in mind, an artist paints something to have the beauty of a picture, and to put their creativity into that picture not for making it last long. and another thing, peeling and fading is only somthing you worry about with cheap paints anyway, not good quallity ones.

if you like to make stuff last for a long time, you should work with antiques =)
    Hi,

I could give my opinion, but you already have two fine ones.

Just remember that IF one day you decide to use an oil primer (unlike the acrylic one, it can only be used for oils), you'll need to size the canvas with rabbit skin glue or PVA glue (I think I'm right about the PVA, but not sure).

I'm referring using primer over a raw canvas, not over an already primed one - I prefer to say primer instead of gesso.

    Kind regards,

every 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first! don't listen to the hype of only changing every 15000 miles etc. ask any real Ase certified tech. if you want your cars to last a long time change it every 3000 miles or 3 months. I Myself change my oil every 1500 or 2 months to get the most life out of them
12 months isn't too long at all, backed by a good oil filter (IE not fram) and the engine gets run maybe 30 minutes running around a month or so..... should be fine. Toyotas wear low, and do great on mobil one.
You need to change the oil every 15,000 miles. But my mechanic said you have to change the filter every 10,000. I love synthetic oil. I never remember to change my oil every 3,000 miles

CLINIQUE IS THE BEST. I have oily skin so I shouldn't even be wearing moisturizer-but the 3 step skin care regime calls for it, so I tried it, wonderful!
clinique moisture surge extra. it's completely light and oil-free, you can't feel it at all! it's actually meant for quick touch-ups throughout the day when you're feeling a bit dry, so you can buy it for $19 in a spray bottle, or in a jar, which is a bit of a thicker formula, for $30. i swear by this stuff!

next time you're at macy's or nordstrom, go to the clinique counter and say a friend recommended it, but you want to try it for a few days before you buy it. they'll give you a little take-home sample that will last you a good week or two. try it! i promise you'll love it :]

The Velocity face lotion is also great to put on after you go swimming or take a shower because it uses the water to help hydrate your skin, but it doesn't make it oily!

Would you like to tell me if the extra virgin olive oil of TESCO'S own brand is a high quality one?

and where is its original produced site?Would you like to tell me if the extra virgin olive oil of TESCO'S own brand is a high quality one?
If you shop at Tescos then I can recommend the unfiltered organic EVOO. It is Italian and ( for the price ) is very good.Would you like to tell me if the extra virgin olive oil of TESCO'S own brand is a high quality one?
Yes it is very good I use it all the time.. Their extra virgin oil is good as well
It's probably a mix from several countries, wherever it's cheaper for them to buy in bulk.

South America also produces reasonably good olive oil, and cheap compared to the Mediterranean one.

But why on earth would you want to buy from Tesco?
  • facial oil
  • When doing an oil change which bears more importance to you, the quality of the oil filter or the motor oil?

The quality, grade, and type of oil you use is far more important that some fancy filter.

Most of the time your oil filter is in bypass mode. That means your filter is being bypassed, its not being used, when oil pressure is high, like when driving on the highway.

If you switched from an expensive filter to a cheap one, your engine would not notice the difference. As long as you change the filter when you change the oil, you are more than fine.

The only time where a fancy filter is important is when you are extending oil change intervals to 10,000 miles or more. If you are changing your oil every 15,000 - 20,000 miles, then a top quality filter is important. Less than that, it's not a big deal. When doing an oil change which bears more importance to you, the quality of the oil filter or the motor oil?
well like the second guy said, they are both important, here's why, anyone can add a oil on their car if the oil level is low but if you don't change it after while, the oil begins to crumble and make the engine preform badly and soon you'll blow up your engine, so the guilty of changing the Oil is as important too, ALSO changing the Oil filter is as important too because if you change your oil and put your old oil filter back in than your need oil inside the engine become as oil and bad like a use oil because of the dirty long use oil inside of the old oil filter so they both are important, changing the oil filter along with the oil itself and don't forget about the washer, if you don't replace your oil filter washer than you oil won't work as it was new oil. hopes that clear it out for you. good luck. When doing an oil change which bears more importance to you, the quality of the oil filter or the motor oil?
The filter. I use regular Purolator filters. All oil meets or exceeds OEM standards, even the store brands like Walmart, AutoZone and Advance.

I also change mine every 5,000 miles. I used to do it every 3,000 miles years ago. But again, the oil is better than it used to be.
    sir,

Both are important, when ever u are replacing the engine oil, repl the filter with that. Its good for the engine.
both..if u use a hi grade oil, make sure you also use a good quality oil filter..the 2 shud go along togeder..
    The oil
    you should always change both.

Is the engine oil that jiffy lube uses high quality?

i changed the engine oil of my car from there today...

ive been actually getting their services since the year of 2003.. but because this time i got a new car,, i care more about that now!!!Is the engine oil that jiffy lube uses high quality?
Your service receipt will tell what type of oil (i.e. 10W-30) is used, but it won't say what brand...Places like Jiffy Lube pump oil from barrels underneath the service bay or in a supply room...Next time you're in their neighborhood, stop in and ask them to show what brand of oil they use...It used to be Pennzoil a while ago when Arnold Palmer was their pitch guy.

Also, try having the oil changed every 5000 miles or so..This is more in compliance with what the manufacturer recommends...And never let them sell you something they say that you need - like a fuel filter...A look in your owner's manual will show you that you don't...Check to see when the serpentine belt needs to be changed...That's a biggie.

All the bestIs the engine oil that jiffy lube uses high quality?
    OMG!

Never take a new car anywhere other than the dealer where you bought it. Far too many disastrous slips and mistakes are made in any fast oil change place. What do you think would happen if they happened to double up the oil filter gasket or leave the oil drain plug loose? Two oil filter gaskets will eventually start leaking like a sieve, same with the oil pan drain plug. If you motor happened to be ruined by their mistake your new car warranty would not touch the damages.

I personally saw a Toyota Camry at a Toyota dealership that had lost a motor because of a jiffy lube mistake. The car had been sitting four months. At that time the parent company of jiffy lube, Pennzoil hadn't even decided that Jiffy lube caused the problem.

If you get the oil changed at your new car dealer they'll stand by their mistake and supply you with a new motor without a blink. It's also better to go to your dealer as a recorded file will prove that punctual service work had been done to protect your warranty.

All jiffy lube joints use Pennzoil. Your car does not call for 10W-30. All new cars today use either 5W-30 or 5W-20.

For gosh sakes, do all you can to keep your warranty intact.
If I remember right, I think it is Valvoline. It's an o k oil if you like parafin in your engine. Rates right up there with Penzoil.

Ask any good mechanic what he thinks about Penzoil!

    Quality of Oil Pressure Switch?

Some time ago, the oil pressure light on my car started flickering. I went to a shop and they told me the oil pressure switch (sending unit) was leaking oil and they changed a new one. A few days later, the light came on again and I went back to the shop. They told me the unit was bad and they changed another one for me without charge. A couple of months later, it started flickering again. This time, the shop told me that the unit was burnt out due to low oil level as the oil level was about 1 quart from the maximum line. Still, they said they changed the unit for me since it鈥檚 still under warranty but they charged me for the labor.

Here is my question. Can oil pressure switch (sending unit) be burnt out that easily just because of low oil level? Where can I find product specifications or other helpful information? Is this normal practice for repair shops?Quality of Oil Pressure Switch?
Other engine parts would fail long before the oil pressure sending unit if you had a low oil failure. One quart low is not enough to cause any trouble at all. Sounds to me like you are either getting inferior parts or the parts are not being installed properly.Quality of Oil Pressure Switch?
its called after market junk stick with original parts that wont happen. A lot of repair shops will not put in fuel pumps unless they are from the dealer 300-550 bucks. the after market ones for 80- 120 will most of the time be back time after time. so they tell ya up front they will not do that twice for free. starters, too a/c pumps too its not uncommon
Your repair shop doesn't know what they're doing.

Oil pressure do not go out all the time,Yes they leak but they're still sensing oil pressure.
    try manufacture replacement
I don't see how that many sending units can burn-out when they are designed to operate in a temperature range conducive to that engine block, head and pan. Go to dealer parts dept. for print-out on specs and informative illustrations.
The oil pressure relay does not burn out by low oil. If that were the case, hundreds of thousands of switches would be replaced on a regular basis. Many variables are involved here, and trying to figure out what really is happening is impossible. My inclanation is the shop did not attach the wire to the sender proplerly/tight, or you really have an oil pressure issue. But if the latter is true, then the shop would have jumped at the chance to charge you for a new oil pump, or worse, engine. Have your oil changed, with a new filter, and see if that light comes on again. Some oil pressure sensors, especially on older vehicles, needed to be ';primed'; with a drop of oil before installing.
The light should only come on when your oil level is low. I find it hard to believe that the sending unit (if that is what they changed) could go bad so quickly. First look underneath your car and see if there is oil leaking. Park on a spot where you don't see oil on the ground. Look underneath and see if there is oil leaking. Also check the dipstick for your oil level. If your oil levels stay normal you may not have a problem. The problem is probably the bearings in the crankshaft. You may be able to solve the problem with a heavier weight oil,
