Where is the best place (value/quality) to take your car for an oil change?

vw jetta in phoenix.Where is the best place (value/quality) to take your car for an oil change?
Most people would say Jiffy Lube or Ez Lube (California) or any other fast lube providers in your area and most people get good service from these providers but like any other business they are out to make a buck from you. In Los Angeles a news crew for NBC 4 recently did an undercover report and caught 6 out 9 stores that were either selling products that were not needed or sold products that were never change.

My advice to you would be 1) to go to a trusted family mechanic or 2) go to your local VW dealership, most people are scared or don't have the patients to go to the dealership but dealerships give the best service because of thier knowledge of the specific cars they handle.

do it yourself Report Abuse

i usually go to jiffy lube, but an oil change should only take about 15-20 minutes. sometimes you can get stuck there for over an hour and dont let them talk you into buying extra stuff.
All those oil change places do try to sell you more, as well as Goodyear and Goodrich, so you have to stand your ground. Replace your own air filter before you go because they charge a lot for one. I take my car to the dealer. I bought it new and they have info on recalls that aren't readily known because they aren't safety related. Then, I get things done free.
NEVER go to the 'quick lube' shops. They hire inexperienced kids to work there. I have seen many horror tales over the years about damaged vehicles by incompetent employees. Also, they do put alot of pressure on you to buy extra services you dont need. Find a good mechanic. Get some personal recomendations from people you trust in the area. Full Service mechanics will do better work for the same or less money that the 'quick lube' shops.
